BIOGRAPHY

With a highly stylized groove and soulful baritone, singer-songwriter Rob Yamanoha displays the most talent from Hawaii since John Cruz and Jack Johnson hit the national music scene. Showing influences of soul, smooth jazz, and light acoustic rock, his music mixes 70's nostalgia and modern pop sense with convincing originality.

Rob’s debut CD titled “BETTER” was released in September 2007 on the record label Red Moon Entertainment, and distributed in all Hawaii retail outlets and online through CD Baby and ITunes.  The first single “Waialua Sky” has been on heavy rotation at KAPA 100.3 FM and has hit #1 on the KWXX 94.7 Top 5 at 5 radio hits on the Big Island of Hawaii.  The music video for “Waialua Sky” has been released on Hawaii’s TV Station OC16 and on the internet and has received many great reviews.  “BETTER” has since won a 2008 Hawaii Music Award in the Adult Contemporary category. 

After seven years performing, writing, recording, and producing with Big Island party band Moemoea, Rob moved on to a career as a producer, recording artist and engineer, record label exec, and solo entertainer.  Performing at venues including coffee shops, bars, restaurants, private parties, and large concert events like the downtown Hilo Ho’olaule’a, Rob’s love of music from the 70’s led him through an evolutionary process in which he’s discovered his own instantly recognizable style, displaying what he calls a “singer-songwriter perspective, through the lens of soul and classic island music”.
